Amanda, Au-Pair : Iso-Heikkilä

I am trying to find ways to constantly learn and experience new things. In this case it means working abroad. My goal in my everyday life is to not only enjoy the days I have off work but also the days I am working. And so, I never stop reaching for the next step of my life. This is the way I stay motivated and truly happy in my life. I put myself out of my comfort zone, even though it might scare me at first. This way, I have reached the most amazing opportunities. Things that were couple years ago just a dream to me. And I am only twenty. I cannot wait to see what I will be learning about in the next few years.

I am from Finland and want to get to know new places. Especially I am interested about Middle-Europe and areas where German is spoken. I have understood that nature there is unbelievable beautiful and so i would love to experience it myself.

I enjoy spending time with people and getting to know them on a deeper level. Meeting new people and hearing about life in different aspects are things that I find myself enjoying. I believe I have the power to teach others and learn from others just by communicating. So simple, but so fulfilling. I am easy to approach and talk to, also on a deeper level. I consider this as one of the best qualities in me. Also, I think that introducing people abroad to your children and making the environment they grow in international, can have great effects in their emotional growth and understanding of world.

Just last week, I was working with pupils aged seven years old. The class required a lot of attention and authority. There were more than one who need special attention and overall, the class was active. I had a rough day with the kids, but everything felt in place in the last lesson. We were listening to kids’ concert from YouTube, and suddenly the kids started to sing in unison and dance. Everyone was happy regarding that it was the last day of the week filled with emotions and tiredness. I couldn’t help myself, but I think I shed a few happy tears in that moment. I admire the way kids brains work and how they truly live in the moment. And why is this important to be brought up? This is the reason for me to work with children. Despite the difficulties, kids always surprise you. And the result of the work done is rewarding for you and important for the kids. The positivity repeals the hard work and so the job gives you inspiration and joy in your life. And knowing how big a difference your investment in the work makes for the children, gives it a purpose.

When I work with a purpose, I do my work well and want to be there for every aspect of the position. I get so much from the job that I want to make the most of it. I adapt well to new situations and think I could bring a lot for the kids to learn about. These are few good reasons I believe I would suit this position very well.
I am experienced in working with people, especially with children. I simply find myself comfortable with kids, like I speak their language that not everyone understands. I have worked in camps, clubs, schools, and families. Overall, I have experience with kids aged between three and twelve. I grew up with three younger siblings and one a little older than me. I guess that has also a lot to do with my approach to working with kids.

I love being outdoors. Camping, hiking, outdoor sports, sun, and rain are few of my favorite things. I would love to stay outside with the kids and look all the wanders in nature. Teaching is also something I enjoy, so if needed, I gladly help with learning new things. I know basics of German and hope that you would be open-minded and help me with learning to speak the language better, since I am motivated to learn. I have worked few Christmas seasons in Germany with the language and now started studying it again in university.

Unfortunately, I am only available for two months, for may and June. I hope that we could make it work for that time, since I am truly interested in working with you. I am flexible about working hours and tasks.
I have driver’s license (2020) and First Aid Certificate (Red cross 2022).
