Dear family,
I am Teresa, a 26-year-old Spanish girl who wants to start a new life in Switzerland.
I graduated in Labour Relations and Human Resources from the Complutense University of Madrid.
After several years devoting all my efforts to continue improving professionally in the world of work, I embarked on what has been my greatest adventure so far.
I packed my bags, left my job and my life in Madrid to move to the United Kingdom and start from zero to improve my English with the sole purpose that one day, this would help me to achieve my goal of moving to Switzerland.
Why Switzerland, you may ask? Easy, for love, love of the country, the culture, the lifestyle, but also love of my partner (who is Swiss.)
In my family we are 3 brothers, I am the middle one and I have 8 years of difference with my little brother what he has taught me first, namely what is unconditional love, protection and happiness. Moreover, I have learned to have responsibilities since I was very young, my parents, who worked every day, have always trusted me to take care of my little brother, Pablo.
I am lucky to have been born into a family where we are 35 cousins in total, most of whom are under 14 years old. I have spent many summers looking after them, organising costume parties, playing on the beach or in the park, which has undoubtedly created in me a need to be always surrounded by small children.
In my school, I used the breaks between classes to go to the toddlers' area to look after them and play with them, the teachers were so grateful for my help that they once asked me to go and tell stories to the children.
For more than 6 years I was a Scout, which has also helped me to improve my communication and relationship skills, and of course, has given me the opportunity to play many entertaining games.
My mother tongue is Spanish, I have an intermediate level of English that I certainly still need to improve and at the moment I don't know how to speak German.
I came to the UK with the purpose of improving my English, but after 3 months of being in this country the Covid pandemic started, therefore, it has not been the best year to practice it, but without a doubt, I grew up and have become stronger in the face of adversity. Starting a new job, in a different country, with a different language and in the middle of a pandemic, has undoubtedly taught me survival skills and I have displayed effort and tenacity.
One piece of good news for you is that I have some lovely people in Switzerland, in particular in Baar, who could talk to you about my ability with young children.
Finally, I want you to know that I am a responsible and very organised person, and that the people around me consider me to be fun, loving and very positive.
I love cooking, listening to music and enjoying nature. I am a hard worker.
And I'm also getting my driving licence, so by the time I'm in Switzerland I'll be a great driver.
Being an Aupair could give me the first opportunity to make my way in Switzerland and the truth is, for me there is no better way than to start my new life by giving the little ones the essence of what it means to fight for dreams, to be constant, hardworking and tenacious.
