Merial, assistente all'infanzia qualificata a Zürich

Hello all! I am Merial, a native New Yorker who has been living in Switzerland on and off for about two years but officially moved to Zurich in October. Prior to I was living in New York City and lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for four years where I received two Masters degrees in literature.

I've been involved in some aspect of childcare for over a decade, working casually as a a babysitter since I was a teen. However, about seven years ago I became a nanny for a family in New York City and loved the post so much that I have been in childcare regularly since! I nannied for the same family in NY for five years, looking after a young girl from when she was eight until I moved abroad and she was thirteen. During that time I also nannied for a few other families in the city, including regularly looking after a twelve year old girl. While living in New York I also worked as an at-home teacher for a teenage girl who's needs required her to have extra assistance with schoolwork, so I'm always happy to help in that regard!

After moving to Edinburgh I nannied for a family with one boy who had a history of behavioural challenges (age 10). I also worked teaching English as a second language to children ranging from ages 4 to 15, and really enjoy the experience of helping children learn the language first hand, so if you are hoping to help your children improve or learn English I love to integrate that with childcare. I am a native English speaker, studied French for many years and am fairly comfortable conversing in it, am a beginner in Italian (in preparation for an au pair job that was put on hold due to Covid), and am teaching myself German.

I have always been close with the families I've nannied for and have kept in touch with them and the children long past my time working with them, as I truly believe that this is such rewarding work for all involved!

I am fully vaccinated and eagerly awaiting a booster!
