Viola, balia a Zürich

Hello everyone!

My name is Viola, a multilingual early childhood educator, getting my diploma (B.Ed. in Early Childhood Education and Care) in December 2021. I have worked as a caretaker and teacher in my home country of Finland for a few years now. As of now, I have residency in Switzerland, and I cannot wait to work with children again. Since I am not yet familiar with the Swiss Education system, I am pursuing similar work with children families.

I have worked mostly with 1-6 year olds at various Kindergartens and Preschools in Finland, both as a substitute teacher and a temporary caretaker, who jumps in when there is a need for more staff. I am often thanked for my calm, kind and empathetic personality, and I connect with the children instantly. Every child needs to be seen as the beautiful, curious and intelligent individual they are, and together with the parents, it is my job as a nanny/caretaker/teacher/adult to guide them to play, learn and find their own potential, while also understanding boundaries and the consequenses of one's actions. In my teacher training, we also put emphasis on the learning of safe and healthy relationships and emotional skills with young children.

My Bachelor's degree has a special focus on multilingualism and language development in early childhood. Thus, I am familiar with working with families and children with an international background. I even did a 3 month teaching internship at a prestigious international school in Jaipur, India. For the internship, I was granted a scholarship by the Finnish National Board of Education. I have also worked at Finnish, Swedish and a French Kindergarten in Helsinki, Finland.

My mother tongues are Finnish and Swedish, and at home I speak English with my partner, so I am fluent in all of these three languages. I have a C1 proficiency in German, but since it has been a while, I am currently brushing my German skills.
